Vote Mark West for Governor in 2018.
My fellow Arkansans, in the wake of another tragic school shooting, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and community affected in Parkland, Florida.
I remember the anxiety that gripped Jonesboro when I was in college at Arkansas State as news of the Westside school shooting came out. My wife and I worked with someone whose child was shot in that tragedy. Fortunately, that person's child survived, however, we both remember visiting the hospital that night as a teacher was losing her fight for her life.
I'm angry that our schools remain soft targets for mentally ill people with guns. Our children shouldn't be a target for aggression and violence.
Why is it considered logical to secure our politicians in their government buildings, but not illogical to leave our most vulnerable, our children, inadequately secured in schools all over the state?
I believe we need to create secure places for our children to be educated without the worry that something similar could happen again here in Arkansas.
I urge the State Legislature and our Governor to end the "gun free zone" policy that leaves our children unprotected when we have trusted them into their care.
We can allow teachers and staff, who are willing, to carry on our campuses as a line of defense to deter the next insane rampage.
If that's not enough, I believe we could also recruit retired servicemen and women to secure our campuses.
Join me today in urging the State Legislature and our Governor to end the madness and to keep our children safe!
Empowering Liberty, Empowering Arkansas, Empowering You.
Mark West sat down with 71 Republic to discuss his plans to help small businesses and working Arkansans if elected Governor.
Once again, my fellow Arkansans’, we have been sold a bill of goods by our Governor and the Republican Party of Arkansas. This bill of goods, is made of the promises of a smaller government, a more efficient government, and lower taxes.
My fellow Arkansans’ a smaller government does not grow by one hundred and seventy-four million dollars. A more efficient government does not continue to enhance its over-reaching influence. Furthermore, we all understand that for any government to have a surplus of sixty-four million dollars, means that our taxes are too high!
Therefore, to my fellow Arkansans’, this is the commitment I make to you. If you so choose to elect me as your next Governor, I will call for an immediate audit of all State agencies; to determine their viability, any overlap that can be eliminated, along with programs and positions that are no longer effective.
We have a spending problem in Little Rock – Not a revenue problem!
